The American Institute of Architects
(AIA) interviewed hundreds of residential architects for their Home Design Trends survey. After reviewing the results, the AIA stated the following items will be some of the most prominent home design trends for the next decade.
Home Technology: Smart technology can make our lives easier, and because of that it's incredibly popular in our homes. From security system cameras to washing machines controlled through a smart phone app, the gadgets are a 'go'.
House Healthy: Wellness isn't just about the homeowner, it's now about the home too. Eco-friendly and organic products; including fabric, natural woods, and air purification systems are on the rise.
Energy-efficiency: While this is not new, interest in water reclamation systems, appliances and solar panels is expected to continue.
Kitchen: The kitchen is the heart of the home, and that is something the survey stated will remain in place. The widely popular open concept design is expected
to stick around for the next ten years.
Home Offices: As people continue to telecommute, home offices are becoming more important and popular.
Go Green: Providing an outdoor oasis for family and friends is a trend that is expected to grow. From screened porches to fire pits, an expanded outdoor living space provides homeowners with extra living space.
